This Policy applies to personal information that Valorem processes in connection with our marketing websites at valoremproptech.com and getvalorem.com, our customer dashboard, and communications with us. Where Valorem processes personal information on behalf of a customer under a master services agreement, the customer is the controller of that information and Valorem acts as a service provider — those processing activities are governed by the customer’s agreement rather than this Policy.

5. Legal basis for processing
Valorem relies on the following bases: (a) performance of a contract with you or your employer; (b) legitimate interest in operating and improving the service; (c) compliance with legal obligations; and (d) consent, where consent is required by applicable law.
6. Disclosure of personal information
We disclose personal information to:
- Service providers we engage to operate the platform, under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- Professional advisors (legal, accounting, audit) under confidentiality obligations.
- Government, regulatory, or law-enforcement authorities where legally required or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Parties to a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, financing), subject to customary confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. International transfers
Valorem is headquartered in Canada. Our infrastructure and the third-party service providers we engage to operate the Service may be located in jurisdictions outside of Canada, including but not limited to the United States and other jurisdictions worldwide. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of personal information outside of Canada, including in jurisdictions whose privacy laws may differ from Canadian law. We take reasonable measures to protect personal information regardless of the jurisdiction in which it is processed.
8. How long we keep personal information
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. Account records are kept for the duration of the relationship and for a reasonable period after. Billing records are retained for seven (7) years to meet Canadian tax requirements.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including PIPEDA in Canada), you may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion, subject to retention obligations.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards that we reasonably consider appropriate to the sensitivity and volume of personal information we process. The specific technical controls, configurations, vendors, and operational procedures we use to deliver such safeguards are proprietary and are not disclosed. We may modify our security measures at any time, provided the overall level of protection is not materially diminished.
No internet-connected system is fully secure. The use of any cloud-based service involves inherent cybersecurity risk, including the risk of unauthorized access, data loss, or other security incidents that may occur despite reasonable safeguards. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of any such incident is governed by, and subject to the limitations in, the applicable contract between us and the relevant customer; where no such contract exists, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Children
The Valorem platform is intended for business use and is not directed to children under 16.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date.
